Registered nurse training

NCLEX RN

Being a NCLEX RN (registered nurse) has to be one of the best ways to verify your job skills and knowledge, and help you develop a career in the healthcare industry. The National Council Licensure Examination, also known as NCLEX, is a nursing school exam that measures you aptitude. This examination is recognized internationally, and helps determine if an individual is prepared and ready for nursing practice, especially in the United States. There are also two main types of examinations, one for registered nurses, and one for practical nurses, both of which can be verified by passing the NCLEX.

This exam, which mostly consists of multiple-choice questions that have 4 options each, can be considered challenging, especially for those who are not familiar with nursing practices and processes. At times, it can also include other fill-in-the-bank questions, or open-ended questions. However, many people have done well in this examination, which is why you should have no problem passing it, as long as you study the required material carefully and in detail. Also, you might want to note, that the NCLEX for registered nurses is normally more difficult compared to the examination for practical nurses, as you have to get a higher percentage of correct answers in order to pass the examination.

The main method of evaluating your examination during the NCLEX is through a computerized adaptive testing system, also known as the CAT. With this system, the computer is able to track the ability of an examinee by comparing his/her answers with other answers that have been provided previously, and alter the difficulty of the following questions accordingly. Once you begin to answer consecutive questions correctly, the computer will proceed to select harder questions. Vice versa, if you begin to answer a string of questions incorrectly, the computer will choose easier questions until you show the ability to get them correct. This is why, with every answer you give, the computer is able to judge your abilities accurately, giving examiners an accurate idea of your level of knowledge.

Such extensive measures have been put in use to grant licenses to both registered and practical nurses because making a mistake in the healthcare profession can be extremely costly. This is mainly due to the fact that you are always dealing with lives, which can be extremely fragile especially when someone is undergoing treatment or medication. However, once you pass this examination, you can be assured of a long-term career in the healthcare industry, as the NCLEX is one of the best qualifications you can have. With it, you will also be able to look for work overseas as well, due to its stature as an internationally recognized nursing license.

So if you have the passion, interest and determination to pursue a career in as a nurse, no matter whether it is a position as a registered nurse or a practical nurse, you should aim to pass the NCLEX as soon as you can, so you can be on your way to being a recognized NCLEX RN.
